The fly behind the ear, from experimental music to sound art in Spain
Llorenç Barber and Montserrat Palacios
From 15th to 17th November, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
To talk about The fly behind the ear is to be faced with a fundamental transition in order to understand the radically new world we are living in: a transition which goes from the conception of art and music as recreation, virtuosism or product, dream or speculation to another, unspecific conception in perpetual dissolution, in which the emphasis is not placed on composing rather than on arranging, not on conceiving but on receiving, not on the sound itself (sounds are all the ways of being listened to), not on the instrument, not even on time, but on the created situation and on all the connections that such a situation is capable of generating in someone who goes more deeply into it. The fly behind the ear exposes that (sometimes) tortuous and fluid “evolution” in which so many and such varied musicians, a-musicians, non-musicians and other proposers have come together. To order, present rather than explain, and if necessary, make explicit, underlying intentions, practices, thoughts and other sudden changes it constitutes the core of a book which was urgently needed and which is now out-dated as the barbarous present day is so fast : More listening!… More haste, less speed!
